Clark Statement on Passage of Debt Ceiling Increase

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Katherine Clark released the following statement regarding the U.S. House’s passage of a debt ceiling increase. 

“Passing a clean bill to raise the debt ceiling is the responsible thing to do. It’s long past time to stop putting political ultimatums before the full faith and credit of the United States. America has never defaulted on its bills and I’m pleased that the House was able to do the right thing.  

“Too many families are facing financial instability, and the time is now to enact lasting economic reform. I call on my colleagues to help families by taking action to extend long term unemployment insurance, raise the minimum wage, protect Social Security and Medicare, and ensure equal pay for equal work.”
