MALDEN, MA — Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) participated in House Democrats’ nationwide “Save Social Security Day of Action,” meeting with seniors and caregivers at Mystic Valley Elder Services. She joined them to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Social Security and to underscore Democrats’ continued fight to protect this vital lifeline. During her visit, Whip Clark also honored the facility's 50 years of service to local seniors and caregivers.
“Social Security is the most successful government program in American history. For 90 years, it has honored a straightforward promise: After a lifetime of hard work, every person in the richest nation on earth can and should retire with dignity,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “Today, Democrats are making it clear: We will not allow Social Security to be dismantled just to further enrich the wealthy few. The American people deserve better than this.”
“Mystic Valley Elder Services is honored to celebrate 90 years of Social Security, which serves as a lifeline for over 69 million older adults and people with disabilities throughout our nation. Our team is proud to work with individuals and families to ensure that they can access the Social Security benefits needed to age with dignity and independence throughout our communities," said Lisa Gurgone, Chief Executive Officer for Mystic Valley Elder Services.
