Washington, D.C. – House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar released the following statement following continued House Republican chaos and confusion.

“House Democrats are united and ready to get to work. Unfortunately, House Republicans remain unable to organize themselves in a manner that allows the Congress to move forward and do the business of the American people.

Republicans and Democrats have been entrusted to tackle the problems facing the people we are privileged to represent. Voters sent us here to get to work on our basic Congressional responsibilities like the National Defense Authorization, Farm Bill, government funding, and to protect the full faith and credit of the United States of America. Three days later and Republicans are no closer to undertaking these solemn duties.

House Democrats were able to organize and get to work during the longest government shutdown in American history and then again in the wake of the violent insurrection that took place on January 6th, 2021. House Democrats are united and are committed to staying in Washington for as long as it takes to get the Congress organized.”
