WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on Congresswoman Anna Eshoo (CA-16) announcing that she will retire from the House at the end of the term:

“For more than 20 years, Congresswoman Anna Eshoo has delivered results for the people of Silicon Valley with determination, creativity, and vision.

“From affordable housing to technological innovation, Congresswoman Eshoo has always sought out solutions that improve lives and grow our economy. She has been a force for working families on the Energy and Commerce Committee — especially through her leadership on the Health Subcommittee — where she has advanced legislation to lower the cost of health care and prescription drugs, invest in children’s health, bolster treatments for pancreatic cancer, strengthen oversight of medical devices, and turbocharge cutting-edge medical research through ARPA-H and BARDA. As the only Armenian-Assyrian Member of Congress, she has been a staunch defender of truth and justice, fighting to ensure that the horrors of the Armenian Genocide are never lost to history.

“While Anna will be missed by her colleagues on both sides of the aisle, her lasting impact will continue to be felt across California’s 16th District and in the halls of Congress. I wish Anna and her family all the best.”
