U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark has won a key leadership post as Democrats prepare to take control of the House in January.
The Massachusetts Democrat was elected vice chair of the House Democratic Caucus on Wednesday - a post that could be a stepping stone up the leadership ladder.
Clark, who has represented the state's 5th Congressional District since 2013, secured the post the same day Nancy Pelosi, hoping to return as House Speaker, moved closer to locking down the top spot.
Clark says she's eager to get to work getting corruption out of politics, protecting Social Security and Medicare, improving access to affordable health care, and ensuring equal pay for equal work.
Clark helped lead the Democratic Party's "Red to Blue" initiative aimed at flipping seats in the midterm elections.
