The number of people calling for the immediate removal of President Donald Trump from office is increasing by the hour following yesterday’s attack on the Capitol Building, which he incited. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is threatening to move forward with impeachment if the 25th amendment is not invoked, and at least one Republican lawmaker — Rep. Adam Kinzinger, of Illinois — has called for the president’s removal as well.
Among the many other Democrats pushing for swift action is Assistant House Speaker Katherine Clark, of Massachuestts, who told Jim Braude on Greater Boston that Wednesday’s events were “the culmination of four years of chaos, divisive rhetoric.”
“Donald Trump is a dangerous person, who has demonstrated time and time again … that he will do anything to retain power,” she said.
Massachusetts Congresswoman Lori Trahan echoed the sentiment, saying “Donald Trump is directly responsible for the acts of terror that took place yesterday. There is growing support that he simply cannot be permitted to serve as president of the United States any longer but also, as importantly, that he should never be able to hold office again.”
