WASHINGTON, D.C. – Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) released this statement in honor of former Senator Bob Dole following her attendance at his memorial today. 

“Bob Dole was a patriot and a selfless public servant. His loyalty was first and foremost to the American people, not politics or party. Further, he was an incredible champion for vulnerable people and animals throughout his 46-year career in elected office. He was an important ally in passing my legislation, the PAWS Act, that helps victims of domestic violence secure safe housing for their pets, and he fought tirelessly for people with disabilities until his last breath. I was honored to attend his memorial and will carry on his legacy of cooperation, kindness, and lifting up the defenseless.”
