WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on President Joe Biden's Fiscal Year 2024 budget proposal.  

“President Biden’s 2024 budget embodies Democrats’ commitment to building a robust economy that works for working families and honors our seniors. By doubling down on the success of the Inflation Reduction Act and ensuring the ultra-rich pay their fair share, President Biden’s plan lowers costs for everyday Americans, reduces the deficit by nearly $3 trillion, and fully funds Medicare for another generation. 

“In particular, through an expanded Child Tax Credit and unprecedented investments in child care and pre-K, this budget will bolster the future of our children, the security of our parents, and the strength of our entire economy. The President has again shown that we can create a stronger, more inclusive economy by prioritizing the needs of women and families over handouts to special interests. 

“It’s time for the House Republicans to drop their extremist agenda, break their allegiance to the wealthy and well-connected, and join Democrats in supporting the President’s proposal. This is our moment to grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out by investing in the American people.”
