WASHINGTON, D.C. – Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on her vote to pass the INVEST in America Act, the House’s surface transportation and water infrastructure reauthorization.
“The INVEST in America Act is a roadmap to a 21st-century economy. The legislation will create new, good-paying jobs and modernize our nation’s roads, bridges, rail, transit, and water systems. Passing this reauthorization is an important piece of Democrats’ plan to rebuild and reimagine our nation’s infrastructure to ensure that we address the growing threat of climate change, support the needs of working families, and open the doors of possibility to every American."
The INVEST in America Act authorizes $715 billion in surface transportation and water infrastructure spending, including $452 billion for highway and transit programs, $95 billion for Amtrak and other rail programs, and $168 billion for water infrastructure programs.
