Clark Statement on Ryan Budget
Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congresswoman Katherine Clark released the following statement regarding House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan’s release of the 2015 Republican Budget.
“Once again, the Ryan Budget demonstrates priorities that are dangerously out of step with the hardworking families of Massachusetts.
“This is another attempt to balance the budget on the backs of seniors and our most vulnerable. It aims to privatize Medicare, it takes health insurance away from millions, and it slashes the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) that thousands of Massachusetts families depend on to stay safe in their homes.
“Instead of investing in our families and our workforce, Republicans continue to hand out expensive tax breaks for billionaires and corporations that ship jobs overseas.
“Instead of working with Democrats to pass bills that grow our economy and strengthen our middle class, Republicans seem determined to waste precious time on ideologically driven bills that do nothing for American families.
“Millions of dollars have been lost in the Commonwealth’s economy as House Republicans continue to block attempts to guarantee wage fairness, extend unemployment insurance and raise the minimum wage.
“I urge my colleagues to reject this budget and get back to doing the hard work of building an economy that works for everyone.”
