WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) issued the following statement on the ongoing negotiatons between the United Auto Workers and the Big Three auto companies:
“At a time of great income inequality, unions across America’s industries are fighting to ensure that working families receive a fair share of the wealth they create. As UAW members fight for the dignity, wages, and economic security they deserve, I urge the Big Three automakers to quickly agree to a fair contract that honors their workers, cultivates safe, respectful workplaces, and helps lead the transition to a clean energy economy.
“House Democrats will always stand with our country’s labor movement and our mutual goal of growing the economy by growing the middle class.”
