CAMBRIDGE, MA – Today, Assistant Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Katherine Clark (MA-5) hosted U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi at the Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) for a tour and roundtable discussion on the health care investments made in the American Rescue Plan Act. They were joined by Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley (MA-7) and Lori Trahan (MA-3), Massachusetts State House Representative Marjorie Decker, and CHA CEO Dr. Assaad Sayah. During the roundtable discussion, the elected officials and hospital personnel highlighted how federal funding has helped to support pandemic hospital operations, increased access to affordable health care for Massachusetts patients, and enabled the hospital to expand mental and behavioral health services, specifically for young people. 

"One year ago yesterday, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan into law. The American Rescue Plan provided free vaccines, tax cuts for families, stimulus checks, aid to our state and local governments, and, as we highlighted in our tour of the Cambridge Health Alliance, an infusion of resources into our health care systems,” said Assistant Speaker Clark. “Working with our partners in state government, this transformative law has helped providers like Cambridge Health Alliance respond to the pandemic and has expanded affordable health care to millions of Americans. The Cambridge Health Alliance is on the frontlines of this work and is currently undertaking a remarkable expansion of its care offerings to meet the needs of our community’s children. Today, my colleagues and I saw firsthand how federal funding has helped CHA provide care for our communities and how the American Rescue Plan will continue to support and expand their services on behalf of America’s young people, and I look forward to the work ahead.”
