Clark Addresses House on Republican Amendments to Homeland Security Funding Bill
Washington D.C. -- Today Congresswoman Katherine Clark delivered the following remarks to her colleagues in the U.S. House regarding Republican amendments to the FY2015 Homeland Security Appropriations Act:
“Almost every day, I hear from the families in my district and they are frustrated by the disconnect between what families need, and what they see Congress focusing on here in Washington. And only one week into the 114th Congress, Republicans are back with the same divisive agenda that is the root of the public's frustration.
“Instead of focusing on policies to help families succeed, House Republicans have introduced legislation that not only risks our national security, but tears families apart. These dangerous amendments needlessly target America’s DREAMers – young people who were brought to this country as children. These amendments jeopardize our national security and do nothing to fix our broken immigration system.
“These amendments represent mean-spirited, divisive politics at its worst, and I hope they are defeated.”
