Clark presented the medals during a ceremony at Cambridge City Hall
CAMBRIDGE, MA – Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) presented two long-overdue military honors to Corporal Wing “Vinny” Wong, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany after World War II. Clark presented Corporal Wong with the National Defense Service Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal in front of his family and fellow veterans during a ceremony at Cambridge City Hall.
“Corporal Wing Wong is a living testament to the strength one can muster through sheer love of country,” said Whip Clark. “His story speaks not only to his personal courage; it also reflects the sacrifice and valor of an entire generation of American heroes. I am immensely privileged to honor Corporal Wong’s unwavering patriotism with this long-overdue recognition.”
Also in attendance at the ceremony were Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui, City Manager Yi-An Huang, Cambridge Director of Veterans Services Neil MacInnes-Barker, and several other local officials. Corporal Wong was joined by his wife, Lisa Wong.
Clark is a long-time champion of veterans, helping secure passage of the historic Honoring our PACT Act, helping veterans access their full VA benefits, and fighting to protect the rights of veterans who work in the cannabis industry.
