Clark applauds House for fighting for families and creating better health care
Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Katherine Clark released the following statement regarding the passage of the bipartisan bill to fix the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) and fund the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP):
“For years, failure to fix the broken SGR formula caused uncertainty for seniors who need care and the doctors providing that care. Democrats and Republicans came together on a permanent solution to end a broken system and create certainty, efficiency and quality of care.
“Today’s bipartisan bill also ensures funding for programs for low income children and community health centers.
“While this bill is an overall victory for seniors, children and families, I am very disappointed that we were not able to remove the longstanding restrictions that deny access to abortion services for low income women.”
