Nearly every member of U.S. congressional delegation from Massachusetts is calling for President Donald Trump to be removed from office after pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol Wednesday in a brazen bid to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Placing blame for the riot squarely on Trump, every member of the delegation except Rep. Stephen Lynch publicly called for Trump to be removed either by the 25th Amendment or impeachment.

...The calls come as some within the president’s own administration have had informal discussions about potentially invoking the 25th Amendment, according to NBC News.

Under the 25th Amendment, it would take both Vice President Mike Pence and the majority of the cabinet to declare the president unfit.

Congress could also remove the president through impeachment if a there’s a majority vote in the House of Representatives. The senate would then also have to hold a trial and convict him in order for that to happen.

Other calls for Trump's removal from Massachusetts lawmakers:

Despite the seditious attempt to overthrow our democracy, we in Congress will fulfill our duty to ensure the will of the people and the integrity of our democracy is upheld. But the next days and weeks remain dangerous. 1/2; Donald Trump is a traitor to our country and our Constitution. He must be removed from office and prevented from further endangering our country and our people. 2/2
