A major upgrade that will increase accessibility is coming to a MetroWest Commuter Rail station.
Thirty-four years to the day since the Americans with Disabilities Act was signed into law, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark said she secured $500,000 to enhance ADA compliance at the Wellesley Square train stop on Grove Street.
It's a welcome change to a group that has been advocating for ramps and other accessible features for close to a decade.
"It's a way to help other people like myself, but also, this is a dream come true to be able to see it happen," said Will Fahey, of the Wellesley Community Advocacy Committee.
Fahey is an employee at Fenway Park. He said for years, he has not been able to take the train from where he lives in Wellesley to work.
The announcement also comes during Disability Pride Month, which is celebrated in July.
The Wellesley Square stop is on the Commuter Rail's Framingham/Worcester Line.
