Recently, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the 2020 National Environmental Scorecard, with our Representative Katherine Clark earning a top score of 100 percent. We’re lucky to have her representing our district and continuing to fight for issues we care about!
The Scorecard has been used for over 50 years to analyze the environmental records of members of Congress, evaluating key congressional votes on the environment and environmental justice. As we saw play out across 2020, the same damaging system — racism — is at the root of COVID-19 vulnerability, climate injustice, environmental injustice, and police brutality. The 2020 Scorecard includes votes that reflect LCV’s belief that these struggles are intertwined and must be addressed together.
The 2020 Scorecard measures votes cast during the second session of the 116th Congress. Highlights from the 2020 National Environmental Scorecard include the Great American Outdoors Act, investments in climate infrastructure, renewable energy research and development, and Environmental Protection Agency funding. Representative Clark voted with the environment on every one of these 21 bills.
As we move forward to take bold action on climate and the conservation, LCV and its state affiliate, the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM), applaud champions like Representative Clark for standing up for our health, communities, and environment. The 2020 National Environmental Scorecard is available online in both English and Spanish at https://scorecard.lcv.org/.
