WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) issued the following statement after House Republicans blocked passage of a bipartisan War Powers Resolution to stop Trump’s unauthorized war in the Middle East:

“The American people need lower costs, not another endless war. 

“Families are already struggling to make ends meet — with costs skyrocketing for everything from groceries to health care. Now, Trump’s unauthorized war in the Middle East is hiking gas prices by 22 cents.

“House Democrats forced a vote on a War Powers Resolution to stop this chaos, that has already claimed the lives of six service members. Instead of joining us to stand with the American people, the GOP is raising costs and allowing this reckless war to proceed without a strategy, objectives, or exit plan. 

“While Republicans continue cowering to a wannabe king, House Democrats will press ahead in our fight for lower costs, accessible health care, and safer communities. Our service members, their families, and our constituents deserve better.”
