PANAMA – Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on Congressman Dwight Evans (PA-3) announcing his retirement at the end of the 119th Congress:

“For more than four decades, Congressman Dwight Evans has been a steadfast advocate for the people of Pennsylvania and the nation. Throughout his career, he has relentlessly fought to expand economic opportunity and defend the American Dream on behalf of working families. As a Member of the Ways and Means Committee, he fought to protect vital lifelines like Social Security and Medicare from repeated Republican attacks and led efforts to lower costs for small businesses, reduce poverty, and ensure tax fairness for all. And his advocacy as a Member of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force has helped move our nation forward in the fight for safer communities.

“Congressman Evans' leadership and unwavering commitment to service will leave behind a lasting impact on our House Democratic Caucus. I look forward to working with him through the end of this term, and I wish him and his family all the best in their next chapter.”
