WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of Mother’s Day, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined DWC Vice Chairs Nikema Williams (GA-5) and Teresa Leger Fernandez (NM-3), Rep. Brittany Pettersen (CO-2), and Executive Vice President of MomsRising Donna Norton to call for action on policies that honor and respect the needs of moms across America, highlighting reproductive freedom and affordable child care:

“This Sunday is Mother’s Day. A moment to honor the joy, love, and sacrifices of motherhood. The Democratic women of the House know there’s only one way for Congress to celebrate. The only meaningful way we can honor America’s moms is by taking action.

“We’re here with the incredible leaders of MomsRising to send a clear message: House Democrats are ready to act.

“We’re ready to defend the health, freedom, and economic security of American families. We’re ready to ensure every family can afford quality child care and elder care. We’re ready to safeguard the right of a mom to decide if and when she has another child, and the right of an aspiring mom to start a family with IVF.

“That’s what moms want, need, and deserve this Mother’s Day. But while we stand ready to act, this MAGA Majority is standing in our way.

“Over the last 16 months, instead of fighting for moms and families, House Republicans have waged a daily assault on everything that moms care about most. They've driven up the costs of family life. They've cut child care, health care, and housing. They've endlessly attacked reproductive health care.

“And today, the women of the House are standing with women across America to say: Enough is enough.

“Moms want leaders who put their freedom above all else. They want the People’s House to put people over politics. They want their elected officials to back up the pro-family rhetoric with pro-family policies. That’s what America wants for Mother’s Day.

“And it’s my pleasure to introduce an advocate fighting to make that vision a reality. The Executive Vice President of MomsRising, a founding member of what is now a million-member organization, our partner in action: Donna Norton.”
