CHICAGO, IL. – Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) visited Chicago, IL, and participated in three events hosted by Congressmen Danny Davis (IL-7), Bill Foster (IL-11), and Chuy Garica (IL-4). The House Members met with local leaders and residents to highlight how Democrats are growing the economy for everyday Americans through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda.

“Every day, Reps. Davis, Foster, and Garcia are working to grow the economy by growing the middle class – and under the leadership of President Biden, we’re delivering results,” said Whip Clark. “Americans all want the same thing: a fair shot at success – the opportunity to care for themselves and their loved ones. Our Investing in America agenda is answering that call — lowering health care costs, creating good, green jobs, and defending women’s rights. While the MAGA Republican Majority stands in the way of progress, House Democrats will continue to put people over politics.”

Whip Clark joined Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-7) for a "Climate, Equity and Sustainability Roundtable" where the House Democrats discussed their work to improve climate justice and build a clean, green economy. The Congressmembers were joined by local mayors, State Rep. Camille Lilly, State Senate President Don Harmon, civic and business organizations, and residents as they celebrated a recent major grant award from USDA that will invest in climate resilience for the local community.

Whip Clark celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act with Congressman Bill Foster (IL-11). The Members met with leadership of the VNA Healthcare and State Rep. Barbara Hernandez. Thanks to the Democrats’ game-changing law, 23,000 people are saving an average of $1,020 on their health insurance, and 3,700 Medicare beneficiaries are saving an average of $490 each year on their insulin in Congressman Foster’s district.

Finally, Whip Clark joined Congressman Chuy Garica (IL-4) for a discussion on the status of women in America. In particular, the Members discussed Republicans’ assault on reproductive freedom and how House Democrats are working to secure economic and gender justice for women across the country.
