NATICK, MA — Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) celebrated federal investments in Massachusetts’ water infrastructure which will improve climate readiness and public health. The federal dollars will mitigate flooding along the Charles River Watershed and remove lead pipes in schools in the Commonwealth and across America.
“This funding is a game-changing win for our climate and our kids – it's the Democrats’ Investing in America agenda brought to life right here in the Commonwealth,” said Whip Clark. “These federal funds will ensure our local communities can confront climate change with local solutions and that kids across the country have access to safe, clean drinking water at school. With each dollar, we are working to build healthier, stronger communities in every zip code.”
Following recent devastating floods across New England, Whip Clark visited Natick High School to highlight how the $400,000 that she secured in last year’s budget is helping to build a more climate-resilient home for MA-5 residents.
Whip Clark also announced a $58 million nationwide federal grant to detect and remove lead pipes in schools and child care facilities — an investment made possible by Democrats’ historic Infrastructure Law. She was joined by EPA leaders Radhika Fox and David Cash, and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren.
