WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-3) announcing his retirement at the end of the term:
“For 27 years, Congressman Earl Blumenauer has served the constituents of Oregon’s Third Congressional District with distinction, passion, and a soaring vision of what’s possible when we work together.
“Whether leading the fight against climate change or using his subcommittee gavel to safeguard the rights and livelihoods of working people, Earl has embodied House Democrats’ mission: putting people over politics.
“The halls of Congress will not be the same without Earl, his sense of humor, and his iconic bicycle pins. Through half a century of public service, Earl has been a force for the greener, safer, more prosperous future our children deserve. I’m grateful for his friendship and leadership, and I wish him all the best in this new chapter.”
