Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made a stop in Massachusetts on Saturday to address the challenges facing the American health care system.

U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark, the Assistant House Speaker who represents the state's 5th congressional district, hosted Pelosi for a roundtable discussion at the Cambridge Health Alliance.

Pelosi and the Massachusetts congresswomen also highlighted investments in health care made through the American Rescue Plan and addressed the critical importance of funding for safety net hospitals.

"And the good news for me is, as I listen to the providers and we kind of get more provider money, is many of the hospitals have said: 'Take care of the safety net hospitals first. We all need money, but they absolutely must have it,'" Pelosi said.

Pelosi went on to say that she and others in Washington may call upon other leaders in the room to speak about the need for funding to help hospitals.
