WASHINGTON, D.C. – Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) voted today, August 24, to move forward with the budget reconciliation process, opening the door to the passage of the American Jobs and Families Plans.
“Our country faces an onslaught of old and new challenges and Democrats are meeting this moment with historic progress,” said Assistant Speaker Clark. “For too long, our economy has left families behind and dollars on the table by failing to recognize child care, universal pre-k, family and medical leave, and climate resiliency as central to a robust, sustainable, and inclusive economy. Today, we begin a new chapter by investing in these essential pieces of our economic infrastructure. I was proud to join House Democrats in passing this resolution, and look forward to the day when the American Jobs and Families Plans both become laws of the land — a brighter future for every working family is almost here.”
