Today, Congresswoman Katherine Clark supported the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act. The bill addresses concerns of thousands of Massachusetts families who face skyrocketing homeownership costs resulting from abrupt changes in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program. The legislation, passing with a bipartisan majority, implements critical fixes to FEMA's approach to flood insurance affordability. Over 6,800 properties in the Fifth District are currently covered by the program.

"Flood insurance is a critical safety net for thousands of Massachusetts families," said Clark. "We cannot allow sudden, drastic rate adjustments to jeopardize homeownership in our communities. Hardworking families who have invested in our schools, our neighborhoods and our economy deserve this vote from Congress. I'm glad both parties were able to come together and do the right thing."
