Veterans and Military Families

Every day, America’s servicemembers and their families prioritize duty above all else. Their courage and sacrifice reflect the highest ideals of patriotic service.

Our nation, in turn, has a sacred duty to care for them when they come home. Fulfilling that duty is one of my highest priorities.

I’m working to ensure that every one of our veterans receives the hard-earned health, education, and retirement benefits they deserve. If you’re a Fifth District resident having trouble with the VA, my team is standing by to help.

While MAGA Republicans are attempting to cut VA funding, my Democratic colleagues and I understand that serving, healing, and honoring our war heroes is non-negotiable.

That’s why we enacted the Honoring our PACT Act — the largest expansion of veterans’ health care in three decades. This historic legislation extended lifesaving health benefits to as many as three million veterans exposed to cancerous toxins in the line of duty.

I'm also proud to have cast my vote for the MAMMO Act — a new law expanding veterans’ access to high-quality breast cancer screenings and treatment.

Now, Democrats are keeping up the fight to widen military families’ pathways to opportunity — starting with President Biden’s proposed employment protections for military spouses.

I'm deeply grateful for the privilege of fighting for those who have fought for us, and I’m committed to securing further investments in mental health care, substance use disorder treatment, job training, and other vital services for our nation’s heroes.
