BURLINGTON, MA — Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement after making an unannounced visit to the ICE facility in Burlington, Massachusetts:
“On Donald Trump’s orders and with continued funding from Congressional Republicans, ICE has committed endless acts of terror. Masked agents are killing innocent people in broad daylight, families are being torn apart, and reports of inhumane conditions at ICE facilities across the country are rampant.
“That is why I returned to the ICE facility in Burlington to exercise my oversight responsibility as a Member of Congress and demand an end to this abuse of power. This facility is not equipped to be a detention center, yet we’ve seen even in the last week that people are frequently held here well beyond initial processing. All of this cruelty just to fill Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s quota, while nothing is being done to address skyrocketing costs for families. The evil and chaos that Republicans have inflicted in our communities must end. Americans have had enough, and we won’t stop fighting until this reckless agency is held accountable.”
