MEDFORD, MA – Today, in celebration of Women’s History Month, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) joined a distinguished panel of women leaders to celebrate Women’s History Month at Medford High School. Panelists included Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn, Medford Superintendent Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent, Supreme Judicial Court Chief Justice Kimberly Budd, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Professor Aseema Mohanty, Commander Billie June (BJ) Farrell, Dr. Jaime Cheah, Lisa Flores, Kelly Rose Sarno, Tiffany Chan, and Page Buldini. Whip Clark is the highest ranking woman in House leadership and the second woman ever to hold the title of Democratic Whip. She has long been a champion of women and families, leading the charge for pay equity, reproductive justice, paid family leave, and child care. During the pandemic, she secured $50 billion in relief funding for the child care industry, helping 200,000 providers keep their doors open and kids in classrooms. Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, Whip Clark has led the House Democrats in supporting legislation to protect reproductive freedom, including bills to safeguard access to birth control, codify abortion access, and uphold Americans’ right to seek health care across state lines. # # # |
