WINTHROP, MA — Yesterday, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) visited the E.B. Newton Center in Winthrop, where she met with parents and administrators of the Community Action Programs Inter-City, Inc. (CAPIC) Head Start program to discuss the many challenges facing America’s care economy. Later, Whip Clark toured the town’s Health Department to discuss proposed facility upgrades and celebrate newly awarded federal funding.

“Democrats are on a mission to build a fairer, more affordable future for all,” said Democratic Whip Katherine Clark. “That starts with giving working families some breathing room when it comes to everyday costs, like health care and child care. It was a pleasure to spend time in Winthrop to see where federal resources are already making a difference and to discuss how Congress can help ensure every family and every child gets a fair shot at success.”

“Head Start is a program like no other, serving vulnerable children and their families with the highest quality early education and comprehensive services and family supports,” said CAPIC Head Start Director Dianne Curtin. “We serve 198 children and their families each day. CAPIC Head Start is grateful for the leadership of Representative Clark in championing our children, families, and educators and fighting for Head Start in Congress.”
