WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics' May inflation report:  

“President Biden’s plan to strengthen our economy by investing in everyday Americans is working. From the American Rescue Plan to the Infrastructure Law to the CHIPS and Science Act, Democrats have lowered costs, spurred unprecedented job creation, and jumpstarted innovation. The results speak for themselves: inflation in May was the lowest in two years.

“In contrast, on the heels of their manufactured debt ceiling crisis, House Republicans are advancing a bill that cuts taxes for the wealthiest Americans while proposing to gut the investments that families depend on.”

“We must continue to build on our economic gains by doing what we know works: growing the economy by growing the middle class.”
