WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement on the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the progress made to pass the Build Back Better Act.

“Tonight, the House sent the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to President Biden’s desk and set the stage for passage of the Build Back Better Act. Together, these bills will infuse our economy with opportunity by creating jobs, lowering costs and taxes, and investing directly in working families.

“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will modernize our nation’s roads and bridges, expand broadband, get lead out of our drinking water, and help address climate change. It will create 2 million jobs annually over the next decade -- union jobs, green jobs, and most importantly, good paying jobs.

“President Biden and Democrats made a promise to the American people: we would not return to the status quo but would create an economy that finally works for working families. Advancing the infrastructure package and the Build Back Better Act puts us on the precipice of progress as we bring to life our shared vision of a safe planet, a just economy, and a strong future for every worker, woman, child, and family.”
